Responsibilities Include:



  • Prepares non-intravenous medication formulations, prepares non-sterile medications, executes all quality assurance processes and procedures, and carries out various distributive functions for patient care areas.

  • Advocate for patient safety as part of an empowered team by adhering to stringent standards.

  • Update the patient census using various pharmacy inventory automation systems.

  • Assist with filling, packaging and labeling medication units under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

  • Deliver medications to/from patient care areas as needed and according to schedule.

  • Perform various rotating functions in dispensing, product formulation, and unit dose distribution activities, and performs statistical count of all doses dispensed.

  • Maintain work area in clean and organized condition.

  • Conduct inventory checks, maintains required balances, processes controlled substances returns, removes expired medications, and assists in discrepancy resolution

  • Obtains appropriate signatures when issuing/delivering controlled substances and prescription pads.

  • Maintains an accurate, current census, including cassette bin labels, for all assigned areas

  • Assures timely exchange of unit-dose cassettes as per established schedules.

  • Restock automated dispensing machines under direct supervision of a pharmacist

  • Perform other related duties according to established procedures/guidelines as required.  

Job Requirements

Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • PTCB [Pharmacy Technician Certification Board] required

  • 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital is required

  • BLS/CPR Required
