Piping Designer
What are we looking for in our Piping Designer?
Russell Tobin is working with a leading engineering design firm in the Twin Cities to add to their growing team! This Piping Designer/Lead Piping Designer position is permanent/direct hire with a salary range of $85k-$125k/year.
Summary
This role involves comprehensive support across all project phases, with a strong emphasis on detailed engineering. As the Piping Design Lead, you will oversee and coordinate piping design activities, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with other engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist engineers in equipment layout, mechanical, and piping design tasks with minimal supervision, gaining familiarity with company programs, staff, and procedures.
- Prepare general arrangements, mechanical, and piping design drawings and sketches using 3D modeling software.
- Lead client 3D model reviews and coordinate all engineering disciplines as the Project 3D Model Manager.
- Prepare construction drawings and specification packages.
Education, Skills, and Experience
- Associate's Degree in a related discipline preferred. Candidates with substantial relevant experience but without a degree will also be considered.
- Experience in heavy industrial design/drafting (e.g., refining, power, chemical) with a proven track record in equipment layout and mechanical and piping design for retrofit projects.
- Familiarity with 3D laser scanning coordination and data management is preferred.
- Proven ability to develop and interpret P&IDs and identify field items such as process equipment, tanks, valves, instruments, piping, supports, and structural steel. Demonstrated field documentation experience required.
- High proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Experience with 3D design and modeling using CADWorx is required. Familiarity with Revit and Plant 3D will be considered.
- Strong familiarity with NavisWorks and experience leading client 3D model reviews.
- Previous consulting experience is strongly preferred.
- Eligibility to obtain or currently hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required.
Rate/Salary: $85,000-$125,000/year
