Mission Systems Architect
What are we looking for in our Mission Systems Architect?
Mission Systems Architect
Location: Warton (3 days onsite)
Salary: £57k
What you’ll be doing:
- Application of good Systems Engineering, Agile Management and modern Software Development practices across the whole development lifecycle to rapidly deliver Mission Systems which support a DecSecOps approach for novel / prototype crewed and uncrewed platforms
- Driving the adoption and use of synthetic approaches to accelerate concept development, integration, test and validation where possible, in conjunction with physical-based approaches where these add value
- Working across organisational boundaries to drive the adoption and use of virtualised infrastructure and Cloud Computing technologies to transform how Mission Systems and their associated software are developed
- Building and maintaining technology development relationships with key internal and external Customer stakeholders, including organisations such as Dstl and the Rapid Capabilities Office
- Delivering individual projects to time, cost and quality requirements in-line with appropriate Security and Engineering Governance along with timely reporting information into Programme-specific and Systems Directorate reviews
- Providing day-to-day mentoring and support to the Mission Systems Integration Team, with pastoral extensions as required to cover natural work teams outside traditional reporting hierarchies
You will have had experience of:
- Early lifecycle concept modelling, technical report authoring and Business Case development / presentation
- Requirements capture and management within ill-defined and rapidly-changing environments, ideally based on the Agile management of programmes vs. traditional Waterfall approaches
- Practical application of good Systems Engineering practices across the entire lifecycle with a particular focus on early concept development, architecture development and integration, software quality and design for re-use
- Working collaboratively with internal and external partners, ideally including Academia and organisations such as Dstl and the Rapid Capabilities Office
- Managing people through rapid change and nurturing teams for growth
Knowledge:
- Traditional, novel and prototype platform hardware and software architectures
- Typical Vehicle, Mission, Sensor and Communication systems for single and multi-vehicle Autonomy
- Artificial Intelligence technologies and their current benefits and limitations
- Modelling and simulation approaches as well as virtualised infrastructure and Cloud Computing technologies
- Software development using high-level programming languages
