Senior Electrical Designer
What are we looking for in our Senior Electrical Designer?
Summary: This role encompasses comprehensive support across all project phases, with a primary emphasis on detailed engineering tasks. The incumbent will assume the role of electrical design lead for projects, ensuring seamless coordination and effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
Reporting: Administratively, the position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager. Within project structures, the role reports to the discipline lead engineer and/or the project manager/project engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Independently collaborate with engineers on tasks such as equipment layout, grounding, lighting, cable tray and conduit routing, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts, familiarizing oneself with company programs, staff, and operational procedures.
- Take ownership of preparing electrical design drawings, sketches, as well as construction drawing and specification packages.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Preferred qualification includes an Associates Degree in design drafting within the relevant discipline. Candidates without a degree but possessing exceptional experience will also be considered.
- Significant industrial experience is essential, showcasing proficiency in equipment layout and electrical design related to retrofit projects, with a preference for mid-stream hydrocarbon experience.
- Proficiency in developing and interpreting P&IDs, coupled with demonstrated field documentation expertise.
- High proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel is required. Experience with 3D design and modeling is desirable but not mandatory.
- Ability to engage directly with clients from proposal development through project execution, with prior consulting experience being highly preferred.
Workplace Requirements:
- Given the nature of the role, all employees must be willing and able to visit clients at their industrial facilities. This entails a readiness to travel, adhere to required personal protective equipment protocols, and comply with safety policies of both the company and outside clients.
Certifications, Credentials, Licenses & Registrations:
- Eligibility for or possession of a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required.
