Health & Safety Advisor

What are we looking for in our Health & Safety Advisor ?

Our client is a leading provider of Health and Safety Quality Assurance, Compliance Management, and Training services in Ireland, contributing to both public and private sectors' commitment to safe, healthy, and productive work environments. Founded over 25 years ago, the company offers a range of services, including consultancy, event compliance, digital certification onboarding, independent training, accreditation, and digital plant and equipment testing and inspection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspections & Audits: Conduct inspections and audits of contractors, suppliers, and facilities, reporting on findings and ensuring compliance with corrective actions.
  • Incident Investigations: Lead incident investigations, including high-potential incidents, and report findings to the business.
  • Safety Development: Develop safety alerts and toolbox talks, and support the Health & Safety Technical Lead in tracking incidents and analysing trends.
  • Best Practices & Guidance: Promote best practices in behavioural safety and provide guidance to staff, contractors, and operators on health and safety requirements.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Prepare reports and safety metrics for the Health & Safety Technical Lead.
  • Recognition Programs: Assist in identifying and administering programs to promote safe work performance.
  • Policy Implementation: Implement and maintain health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and best practices.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments of water and wastewater facilities and processes, implementing control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on local and state regulations related to wastewater management.
  • Project Support: Participate in design reviews and project kick-off meetings, ensuring health and safety requirements are integrated.
  • Accident/Incident Review: Act as Incident Liaison Officer, ensuring lessons are learned and communicated across the business.
  • Communication: Generate quarterly safety communications for distribution to contractors and staff.
  • Coaching & Support: Coach key influencers on promoting safety conversations and improving safety culture.
  • HSQE Standards: Ensure regional processes incorporate HSQE standards and assist in the rollout of the SiMS system.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant third-level qualification
  • 3+ years experience in HSQE roles within Water Services, utilities, or construction
  • 2+ years conducting site inspections and audits
  • Strong IT skills, especially MS Excel
  • Full driving license and own transport
  • IOSH Coaching for Safety certification (desirable)

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong task prioritization and resource management
  • Ability to develop relationships and embed HSQE culture

What's on offer:
- Salary: €50,000 per year
- Company Pension Scheme: From your start date you are eligible to join our company pension scheme with employer contribution of 2.5% of salary.

- Car allowance of €150.00 per month (taxable).
- Fuel card and toll-tag. 
- Role will be 5 day’s per week, hybrid working. The advisor will be based 3 days at home and 2 days visiting sites one week and then 2 days at home and 3 days visiting sites the next.
