Quality Manager

What are we looking for in our Quality Manager?

Russell Tobin is partnering with a leading specialty manufacturer in the South Bend area to hire an experienced Quality Manager for a permanent/direct hire position, offering a competitive salary of $110k-$130k.

Position Overview:

As the Quality Manager, you will lead the Quality Control team and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality products. Your role is essential in upholding site quality standards, addressing customer concerns, and collaborating with the production team to resolve quality-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety and Standards:

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols within the Quality Department.
  • Establish and maintain quality standards to ensure products meet specifications and are statistically controlled.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure timely and efficient provision of all data and testing required for product quality.
  • Work closely with Production to resolve quality issues and improve productivity.

Research & Development Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with R&D to ensure new formulations align with production capabilities.
  • Address formulation issues that cannot be resolved through production enhancements.

Data Management:

  • Oversee the accurate and timely entry of manufacturing data into the system.
  • Review and validate SMC quality and yield analysis.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Manage the site's scrap reduction program (Yellow Tag) and implement corrective actions or process improvements.
  • Maintain the integrity of Certificate of Analysis documentation for customers.
  • Lead the Customer Complaint and CAPA (Corrective Action/Preventative Action) program.
  • Manage the ISO 9001:2015 certification program and oversee internal and external audits.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Develop programs to prevent manufacturing errors that result in off-grade SMC or prototype products.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of lab equipment in collaboration with R&D and Maintenance teams.
  • Keep the Plant Manager informed of any issues that could impact goal achievement.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Engineering.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of quality experience in chemicals, adhesives, or related technologies.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing a quality control laboratory.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods (SPC, MiniTab, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project).

Travel: Occasional travel required.
