Job Title: Administrative Assistant
Pay Rate: $15-$17 / hour
Start: ASAP
Location: 180 McNamara Alumni Center 200 Oak Street SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455, United States
Hours between: 7:30am - 6:30pm Monday-Friday
Assignment Length: 4 weeks to start, may extend
Work will vary and will include:
- Providing 1:1 assistance for students and staff, including equipment delivery (such as sit/stand stations, chairs, and scooters) and clerical assistance (such as making copies, delivery of HR paperwork, filing, scribing/typing, and shredding of documents). Must be able to transport supplies and equipment as necessary; operate office equipment such as copy machines, computers, printers, etc.
- Fulfilling real-time in-class access assistance including in-class note-taking, audio description, video recording, preparation of materials during a mobility-related assist, and lab assistance requests as well as out-of-class access assistance (such as scribing for homework assignments, reading, and accessing inaccessible research databases and Canvas sites) across the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus (E. Bank, W. Bank and St. Paul). Must be able to take typed and written notes in class; provide audio description of media and the immediate environment; organize physical and digital materials; physically manipulate lab equipment and materials; read aloud; type or write; access online and digital resources.
- Assisting the testing coordinators or acting as exam proctors, scribes or readers in the Testing Center. Must be able to set-up computers for exams; proctor exams for a period of at least two hours; do basic filing and paperwork; look up and enter data into a database; write or type exam answers dictated by others; read exam contents aloud.
- Packaging and delivering exams and other materials across UMTC as necessary. Must be able to deliver paperwork to various locations across the Twin Cities campus; operate a computer and a scanner; troubleshoot computer and scanner issues as necessary; stuff envelopes.
- Assisting with scanning and assuring quality of converted documents in the DRC’s Document Conversion Unit. Must be able to learn document conversion strategies and processes; must be able to convert documents from a variety of formats to other formats independently.
- Filling in for the DRC receptionist as necessary: Answer phones and caller inquiries, schedule appointments, consult with DRC staff. Must be able to communicate using a telephone; enter data into a database; check DRC staff schedules.
- Participating in ongoing training as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
