About the Role
We provide a centralized, reliable, and interactive Telemetry platform including metrics, logging, tracing, and incident management that empowers engineers to work quickly and confidently at scale.

The logging team, known as Sawmill, serves as a core component of the telemetry platform. We provide an end-to-end logging solution that enables engineers to do production troubleshooting and root cause analysis at scale. Sawmill operates as a large-scale distributed system, supporting over 60 gigabytes per second (Gbps) of throughput, sub-minute ingestion latency, and the capability to perform iterative query analysis on a dataset exceeding 20 petabytes (PB). In addition to addressing common challenges associated with large distributed systems, such as scalability, availability, performance, and efficiency, our team also leverages GenAI to provide aggregated insights, enhancing engineers' debugging experiences.

Basic Qualifications
- BS or higher degree in Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in one or more programming languages, like Go, Python, Java, C/C++, C#, with the ability to pick up new ones quickly.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Requires strong communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Understanding security best practices, particularly in relation to sensitive data handling, is a plus.

What Will the Candidate Do
- Provide continuous technical support to service owners, focusing on logging security issues.
- Maintain and extend existing data scanning solutions.
- Develop scalable tools to automate or simplify mitigation processes.
- Drive the resolution of sensitive data logging issues by tracking and managing JIRA tickets, analyzing root causes, and proposing solutions.
- Implement preventative measures, such as Linters for detecting and blocking sensitive data leaks in Go and Java.
- Establish customer support routines and develop runbooks to ensure ongoing logging quality.
