Data Analyst
What are we looking for in our Data Analyst?
The Information Technology team at Russell Tobin & Associates is supporting a top technology organization that has an opening for a Data Analyst.
Location: Chicago IL or NYC (Hybrid, Tues, Thursday in the office)
Pay Range: $55/h - $65/h on W2, DOE
Type: 8 months contract (possibility of extension)
About the Role
The People Data and Analytics team exists to empower leaders and HR partners to make higher quality decisions, in less time, using the best available data and evidence. We deliver actionable insights across all aspects of the talent lifecycle - recruiting, selection, onboarding, development, engagement, and retention - to create positive people and business outcomes.
We are looking for an exceptional data analyst with 3+ years of experience to evolve our self-service data ecosystem and improve how employees consume people data. You will be responsible for designing and building high visibility dashboards, and helping refine our technical ways of working to improve operational efficiency. The team will be looking to you as a people data expert with an ownership mentality and strong desire to go beyond the numbers, uncovering insights behind the data.
What You’ll Do
- Work from the inception of a specified business problem identified by data to delivery of a solution.
- Lead the design, build, and maintenance of dashboards intended to answer critical business questions using people data (such as turnover, DEI, and employee movement).
- Write queries, contribute to larger-scale products/projects and perform ad hoc analyses as needed.
- Proactively identify and resolve data issues.
- Identify opportunities to fix or improve technical processes that will improve our ways of working as a team.
What you'll need
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in an analyst role.
- 3+ years of experience with BI Tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, Power BI or Looker.
- SQL expert and a good understanding of databases, data relationships and data integrity.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.
- Comfortable with working in fast-paced environments to find answers to critical questions with data and be decisive in an ambiguous situation.
- Strong communication skills and customer empathy, capable of pushing for the best solution with tact.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
- Excellent planning and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling structured and unstructured data from internal and third party sources.
- Experience with Python, Javascript, and R are a plus.
- Understanding of basic statistics concepts (statistical distributions, confidence intervals, statistical significance, regression models, etc.).
