Job Title: Business Office Associate
Location: 111 Broadway Ave S Suite 300, Rochester, MN 55904
Position Type: Temporary / on going contract
Hours: 24 hours per week, flexible remote work available (minimum 50% onsite)
Pay: $20 - $23.80 / hour
Job Overview:
Our client a major university system in Minnesota is looking for a detail-oriented Business Office Associate to join our financial resources team. This temporary, part-time position will support the Business Office functions, focusing on financial oversight through accounts payable, cash management, and reconciliations. Reporting to the Business Office Manager/Financial Cluster Director, the associate will play a vital role in ensuring the financial operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibility Areas:

Accounts Payable Vouchers (50% - 20 hours per week):
- Determine the validity of vouchers and ensure proper account allocation.
- Check for consistency with services or goods received and enter information into the University’s payment system.
- Respond to inquiries and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Cash Management (5% - 2 hours per week):
- Process cash deposits for the Business Office.
- Handle Non-UMR Summer Housing payments and coordinate with the billing specialist to invoice external groups.

Reconciliations (5% - 2 hours per week):
- Conduct monthly account reconciliations and resolve inconsistencies in financial reporting.
- Assist departmental procurement card (PCARD) holders with transaction reconciliations for approximately six UMR staff members.
- Review, monitor, and reconcile financial activities for sponsored and non-sponsored funds.
- Oversee month-end account reconciliation for all chartfield strings.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with general accounts transaction experience. Training may substitute for some experience.
- Specific knowledge or skills may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated commitment to data-informed practices.
- Superior interpersonal and intercultural communication skills for fostering collaboration and inclusivity.
- Ability to provide clarity in ambiguous situations.
