Business Analyst (finance)
Client: Biotechnology / Pharma Company
Location: South San Francisco, CA
Contract: 12-month W2 beginning May 1st, 2024
Pay Range: $55-65/hour DOE

The Business Analyst will partner with Finance and various local and global groups on the delivery of artificial intelligence (AI), insight generation, planning and reporting solutions to Finance.

The ideal candidate is curious, open-minded and has a strong desire to obtain knowledge and understanding of the business. Through close business partnership and advisory, he/she delivers high quality technical solutions, enhancements, and process improvements. They apply their strong understanding of Finance processes to develop business requirements for solutions that they also execute on. Their work style heavily involves collaboration and communication with other key players and stakeholders in Technology and Finance across the client company.

Responsibilities:

• Cultivate and foster trusting relationships with business partners in Finance through frequent face-to-face interactions.
• Identify opportunities for simplification and automation of Finance processes.
• Translate business requirements into functional requirements and specifications in collaboration with Finance partners.
• Influence business partners to distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
• Analyze and document business processes, workflows, and use cases for solution design.
• Partner with the Global IT Solution Center team to ensure effective management and delivery of requirements for new solutions and enhancements.
• Gather and evaluate information from multiple data sources for proposed solutions.
• Create and maintain solution design, ensuring it meets customer needs.
• Ensure the Global IT Solution Center team delivers and maintains operational procedure and solution documentation.
• Utilize project management skills to develop testing, validation, and implementation plans and processes to ensure the solution is fit for purpose.
• Thoroughly train end-users and efficiently troubleshoot issues in collaboration with the Global IT Solution Center team.
• Proactively coordinate retrospective sessions to review and capture lessons learned.

• Ability to understand clients’ financial processes and business.
• Ability to adapt in a dynamically changing business environment and lead projects.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts in non-technical terminology and create work effort estimations.
• Ability to prioritize, manage, and deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Teamwork and collaboration, negotiation skills, problem-solving, and willingness to take risks.

• 4+ years of experience in business analysis in the Finance area.
• BS/BA Degree in finance, information management, or related field.
• Experience overseeing the building of analytical solutions.
• Experience in SAP Finance, SAP BW reporting, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP S3, and SAP S4.

• Previous Biotech/pharma experience
• Process project management skills
