What are we looking for in our Portfolio Reporting Associate ?

Position Overview

Through direct employment at its third party asset management services provider, Apollo’s Commercial Real Estate Debt Group is seeking an [Associate] to join its asset management team.  The successful candidate will be a key member of a portfolio reporting team that predominantly focuses on analyzing and reporting on a global commercial real estate credit portfolio in excess of $40 billion. The position reports into Apollo’s Global Head of Commercial Real Estate Asset Management.  The candidate will be exposed to a broad range of lending products (mortgages, mezzanine, b-notes, construction loans, CMBS), CRE product types (office, retail, hotels, industrial) and structures (insurance companies, REITs and managed accounts). The candidate will also work closely with Apollo’s asset management, originations team, investor relations, legal, outside accounting firm and several outside vendors.  This unique opportunity affords the candidate a dynamic view into the various reporting and accounting aspects of the commercial real estate credit, while also learning the business through coordination with various internal and external teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reporting on current commercial real estate debt portfolio
  • Responsible for all ad-hoc and recurring requests/projects related to portfolio
  • Focus on enhancing various internal reporting systems and reports
  • Operate key internal trackers that monitor risk metrics, current and repaid investments, loan performance (i.e. Loan-to-Value, Debt Yield, DSCR, etc.) and other loan terms
  • Interaction and coordination with multiple groups such as Asset Management, Finance, Investment Team and Investor relations
  • Leverage dedicated third-party loan servicing and asset management team for basic portfolio reporting tasks
  • Compute and report IRRs for realized and in-place investments

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required
  • 4 - 6 years of finance experience; particularly in real estate asset management or portfolio reporting
  • Exceptional technical skills related to information technology and systems
  • Strong computer skills and thorough knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Individual should have an interest in the credit/real estate markets
  • Individual must have strong drive and initiative
  • Individual must be collaborative to effectively liaise with various internal departments and colleagues as well as able to work independently
  • Well-developed sense of ownership and accountability
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Role requires individual to be nimble and flexible to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
