What are we looking for in our Senior Manager, Ethics and Compliance?

Our client, a global creative software company, is looking for an experienced Sr. Manager of Ethics and Compliance to join the team on a 6-month contract. **This is an in-office position based out of San Jose, CA.

The Opportunity

The Ethics and Compliance department is looking for a Senior Manager of Ethics and Compliance with Anti-Corruption focus. The Senior Manager coordinates all the anti-bribery and anti-corruption programs and plays a key role in ensuring the organization’s adherence to ethical standards, legal requirements, and anti-corruption policies. In our high-tech environment, the Senior Manager leads the Compliance team’s efforts to prevent and detect corrupt practices, cultivate a culture of integrity, aligned with company values, and mitigate risks associated with bribery and corruption, focusing on both employees and third parties around the world.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Anti-Corruption Program Maintenance:
  • Lead the maintenance and improvement of an effective Anti-Corruption Compliance program tailored to the company’s operations and risk profile. The main programs are: Conflicts of Interest; Gifts and Entertainment; Third-Party screening; M&A; Training and Communication; Risk assurance testing and Anti-corruption risk assessment.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Internal Audit, and other departments to integrate anti- corruption compliance into business processes.
  • Update policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate corruption risk.
  1. Risk Assessment and Due Diligence:
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, working closely with business areas, to identify potential areas of exposure to corruption risks.
  • Lead risk-based due diligence processes for third-party relationships (suppliers, vendors, sales partners) to ensure adherence to anti-corruption standards.
  1. Training and Communication:
  • Supervises training programs to raise awareness about anti-corruption policies and legal requirements.
  • Is responsible for the Compliance comms plan to communicate the company’s ethical standards, policies, and regulations to employees, emphasizing the importance of compliance.
  1. Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Implement monitoring mechanisms to track compliance with anti-corruption policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on the status of anti-corruption compliance initiatives.
  1. Legal and Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Stay current on international and local laws related to anti-corruption to ensure compliance with all applicable legal requirements. 

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience Requirements:

Demonstrated ability, with at least 8 years in building and leading Anti-Corruption programs, preferably within the high-tech industry, including leading complex risk management and compliance programs with successful implementation and identifying ongoing improvements.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of anti-bribery/anti-corruption laws (e.g., FCPA, UK Bribery Act).
  • Self-starter, strong sense of judgment, attention to detail, resourceful, and ability to prioritize multiple projects within a fast-paced environment that experiences changing objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and can engage with people and teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in a dispersed and global environment - with global partners, regional sales teams, and employees based in many countries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills with a data-based decision- making approach.

The compensation range that we expect to pay for this position is between $70-81/hr. Actual compensation may vary based on years of experience or other relevant factors.
