Mold Designer/Surfacer
What are we looking for in our Mold Designer/Surfacer?
Russell Tobin has partnered with a leading supplier to the automotive industry to add to their growing team!
As a Mold Designer, you will possess a solid background in creating 3D models for plastic injection and compression molds, catering to both automotive and non-automotive sectors. This role requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure molds meet customer specifications and facilitate the efficient production of high-quality parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize Visi Software to design 3D solid models for plastic injection and compression molds across automotive and non-automotive markets.
- Determine optimal molding positions, considering requirements such as the line of draw.
- Conduct part feasibilities and offer technical insights to enhance molding conditions.
- Incorporate requested part modifications as needed.
- Actively participate in design reviews to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Develop both basic and advanced parting lines and mechanisms.
- Design complete cooling circuits and ejection systems.
- Implement hot runner manifolds when necessary.
- Review and integrate engineering changes into existing tool designs.
- Generate comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM) adhering to customer standards.
- Prepare machining files for manufacturing purposes.
- Provide detailed manufacturing instructions as required.
Qualifications:
- Preferably a minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Completion of a Mold Design or Engineering course from an accredited College or institution.
- Demonstrated experience of 3-5 years in designing Injection Mold Tooling and/or Compression Tooling using Visi Software.
- Proficient mathematical skills.
- Ability to interpret and understand blueprints effectively.
Rate/Salary: $25-$35/hour
