Job Description

Long term care facility is looking for an Assistant Director of Food Service.

Reporting to the Director of Food Service, responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Food Service department and kitchen.

Production is more than 3,000 meals a day, including creating and maintaining work assignments for staff, training & supervising staff.

Represent the Food Service Department at interdepartmental meetings and coordinate special events.  

Develop menus and direct the staff in cooking and preparing food items to ensure a fine dining experience. 

Requirements:

Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited culinary school is strongly preferred.

Must possess strong supervisory, organizational and excellent communications and writing skills to provide five-star customer service when interacting with staff, geriatric residents and resident’s families.

Must have a passion for culinary excellence.

Ideally will have 10+ years of strong leadership experience working in large fine dining and catering establishments with high volume kitchen production and have a solid understanding of world cuisine, menu planning, food production, food presentation and purchasing.  

Experience with regulatory compliance, food safety, sanitation and overall workplace safety standards are required.  

Prior experience working in large healthcare facilities is desirable.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and food production software programs is required.
